Chinese Herbal Remedies
Don't you just hate getting sick? Regardless of how much we all dislike the colds, flu, and other annoying viruses that seem to come each and every winter, we always seem to get them. Even those of us who take precautions with a flu shot or some other form of deterrent, that darn sniffling and coughing always commence on schedule. Well, at least that's my experience anyway. There must be a way around it all. You know, some hidden path that has not yet been discovered by the masses. A close friend of mine from Taiwan claims that Chinese herbal remedies are often better than American medicines. Who knows; maybe he's onto something. Are you willing to give Chinese herbal remedies a shot?

China Storage
Ever heard the expression “a bull in a china shop?” It doesn’t take a bull. China is so fragile that just a clumsy slip or rough landing can break a precious piece entirely. Needless to say, china is irreplaceable. Every piece is unique, so much caution is needed in china storage and handling.  Consider some tips.

Asian Food Secrets

Have you ever craved some decent kung pao chicken, or maybe a fine batch of pan-fried dumplings? Asian food definitely has some tempting entrees. Fortunately there are Chinese, Japanese, and Thai restaurants to spare. The biggest trick is finding one worth your hard-earned cash. Where do you go for your Asian food? Do you hit up the local Chinese drive-through, or possible order from home? One thing is for sure, no matter where you prefer to dine, there are certainly a vast selection of entrees to choose from.

Visit Hong Kong

During a trip to Asia with my husband, we saw quite a bit of Japan and China. We also took a few days to visit Hong Kong. This city is one of the most fascinating places to spend time in and I would recommend it to anyone. The first thing to hit you is the energy of the place. It's a noisy, chaotic throng of people and has wonderful contrasting elements. The Chinese tradition rubs along with the Western influences. Sometimes a run down apartment block is immediately behind a modern glass fronted skyscraper.

Bonsai
The very first time I came across a specimen of bonsai art, I never even realized that I was witnessing an art form. To my untrained eyes, the exquisite lemon bonsai specimen in my neighbor’s garden appeared like a novel but dwarfish specimen of the common lemon tree that I was more used to seeing. My neighbor son was also not much of an aid in understanding what I saw. He referred to the lemon tree as a ‘stunted, genetically short’ specimen that his father cultivated. The only clue he threw my way was when he said it was something called ‘bonsai’. It was a while before I could track down his father and get to know more about the bonsai specimen. And this man opened my eyes to a whole new world – where nature and man worked together to produce harmony in the form of what has come to be known and appreciated as bonsai unlike in a new technology today where man doesn't refer to nature anymore take for example this computers, television, sony protable reciever, cellphones, cameras and other products of IT industry. ...

Chinese Landscape Painting

On a recent trip to China, I was lucky enough to see some fine examples of Chinese landscape painting. Art is much revered in China and they are very proud of the masters of the ancient past. Museums and galleries take great care in preserving and displaying beautiful paintings. I was also able to see some of the scenery depicted in the paintings, mostly glimpsed from train windows.

Chinese Zodiac Symbols

It is so wonderful to have a balance of Chinese zodiac symbols to use with the western astrological signs.  It is fascinating to study the different horoscopes with respect to birthdates (and times) and find that each of the Chinese zodiac symbols are as close to being accurate personality indicators as the western symbols/signs are.  It is also interesting to consider how the symbols extend to being used in something other than telling one’s future/luck/personality. Chinese zodiac symbols and horoscope are often broadcast on a television or in a sirius satellite radio or whatever radio it maybe with a lot of channels where in they would tell your horocope for the day.

Discover Asian Food

Food is a passion with most of us. Apart from being one of the bare necessities of life, we all view food with a certain degree of indulgence. Which is why, each culture, people and even nation has such a wide variety of food and cuisine to pander to all kinds of tastes. Speaking for myself, I consider life itself a boundless opportunity to savor food and cuisine of various regions. While I’m no gourmand, I do enjoy a spirit of adventure when it comes to food from around the world. And Asian food, in all its hues and tastes, is a personal favorite.
